Brighter and Brighter
Joy comes into our homes when we allow the Light of Christ to light up our lives and do the marvelous things He always does when we believe in Him. He will free us from the darkness that can penetrate our souls and will elevate our lives to the light and joy we seek.
Brighter And Brighter Until The Perfect Day
Can you remember your perfect day...when have you felt the light of Christ pouring in and illuminating your soul?
“For the word of the Lord is truth, and whatsoever is truth is light, and whatsoever is light is Spirit, even the Spirit of Jesus Christ.” D&C 84:45
There are times when we treasure the things of the Spirit with all our hearts. As truth comes into our lives and as inspiration enlightens our souls, we can feel that our lives are getting ‘brighter and brighter until the perfect day’.
This month, I wanted to illustrate my vision of God’s children receiving light each time we turn our hearts to Christ in our search for truth and light. This is a joyous occasion because we begin to understand and connect with the heavenly Light. When take steps to be in the light, we can make better choices...come to know His will and we find the hope that we need to press forward.
I loved painting this image because while doing so I felt God’s light guide me and inspire me as I worked the pigment to try and portray that His Light and Truth are there for us. I pray that we will experience joy when we seek truth and light. I have titled my watercolor painting; ‘Brighter and Brighter’.
“And that which doth not edify is not of God, and is darkness. That which is of God is light; and he that receiveth light, and continueth in God, receiveth more light; and that light groweth brighter and brighter until the perfect day.” D&C 50:23-24
A Beautiful Day Begins With A Beautiful Mindset
Do you find it empowering to understanding that darkness is nothing but a shadow...and that it vanishes each time a sliver of light becomes present? If we become comfortable with darkness, it is unlikely that our hearts will change. If we choose to mindfully seek the light and allow it to enter into our hearts, that heavenly light will bring understanding and strength to our mindset so we can actively fulfill our life desires and dreams.
Last month, we talked a little bit about mindset and how instrumental it is to be able to transform, to make the changes we need to make to become what we desire. Our lives and our transformation is up to us. This month we will discuss our mindset, or mindfulness, and how it gives us empowerment and strength to make the choices that will determine if we will dwell in darkness or live in light. Remember, everything is up to you!
Live More Fully In The Light
When we live more fully in His light we will find that there is power and a strong influence that emanates from the Savior. This power enlightens, uplifts, and illuminates our lives...it is the Spirit of Christ.... Referring back to the scripture at the beginning of this post,
“For the word of the Lord is truth, and whatsoever is truth is light, and whatsoever is light is Spirit, even the Spirit of Jesus Christ.” D&C 84:45
This Spirit can enlighten every heart .... He is available to all!
Even in the most difficult and darkest times, there is light and goodness all around us...it is up to us to seek it and to embrace it. Each time we mindfully turn our hearts to God in humble prayer, we experience His light. What can you do to be more mindful or to have a better mindset for the life you desire to live? Is there a change that is needed so that you can live more fully in the light?
Become Joyful Bearers Of His Heavenly Light
For change to take place, we need to experience His light. Learn to look directly to the source of light and become joyful bearers of His heavenly light. He can help us change how we see the world and believe even when the circumstances seem bleak.
The Lord has promised, “If your eye be single to my glory, your whole bodies shall be filled with light, and there shall be no darkness in you; and that body which is filled with light comprehendeth all things.” D&C 88:67
My husband and I have been praying for a while for an opportunity, where we could work at home and pursue a venture that would allow us to transform our health and our wealth. To be healthier and to live a little more comfortably as well as become more self-reliant. Hope was waning and our opportunities seemed slim. But, we had faith that a solution was out there. We tried to be in tune with the Spirit and open to the light so that God’s design for us could come and direct us to the right path.
It had been several months before our answer came. We were on our morning walk when we were blessed to experience God’s light. The answer we were seeking, literally walked up to us as we were walking the other direction. We didn’t know it then, but we were blessed to be in the right place at the right time, talking to the right person who happened to have the right answers!
Who Are The Bearers Of Heavenly Light?
We, who are disciples of Christ, can become the bearers of light. In John 8:12 Jesus taught; “I am the light of the world; he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.”
I love the Light! Every morning I open my blinds to let the light shine forth upon my daily activities. This year, with our new move to Vernal, we have found it to be a challenge to get the light to shine into our home because it is hidden from our primary source of light...the sun.
We all love August, it is a month of sunshine and being outdoors. Most of us have lots of outdoor and sunny day activities that we involve ourselves in so that we can enjoy the light and warmth that comes from the sun.
Even though it is a challenge for us to get the light of day to shine into our home, I can bring God’s light and truth, with it’s warmth and energy, into my soul, and my heart. Everything seems to change for the better when I am a bearer of heavenly light, filled with the love of God. Happiness engulfs my soul and I feel light and free.
We can receive the light to illuminate our souls even if we feel we are not in a good spot to do so. Light doesn’t choose what it will illuminate but it grows brighter or dimmer according to our willingness to let it in. We can find spiritual healing when we mindfully choose to let it in.
His light and truth cannot enter our souls if we turn away or become hardened toward spiritual things. Consider your mindset, is it in a place of faith and deliverance? We are bearers of light when we are in the right place, our mindset is one that is ready to see God’s light and truth. It is our responsibility to do all we can to behold and to nurture God’s divine light.
Hold Up Your Light! Let It Shine!
I love that we are given the responsibility to be instruments of the Lord to bring light and healing to the souls of everyone we associate with.
He who humbly follows Jesus Christ will experience and share in His light and it will grow brighter unto the perfect day. He is not asking that we figure it all out on our own, He just asks that we trust that He already has a better way designed and is waiting for us to receive it.
As you know, my husband and I love to go out each morning for some physical exercise ... actually to walk and talk together. On a recent morning, we experienced an empowering 30 minutes, to not only walk in the heavenly light of day, but to feel enlightened and directed as we walked along sharing the thoughts and ideas that came to mind. I mentioned to my husband that it felt to me as if Christ was walking with us, partnering with us to direct our conversation to the answers we were seeking at that moment. Our minds were open, and our hearts were meek and humble, we felt joy as the light poured in and directed our life path. We were able to shine the light we received with each other....what a joy!
If Light is Joy, What is Darkness?
When we feel that we are experiencing spiritual darkness, it is because we are having an absence of divine light. When we are in darkness, we are more likely to lose hope because we cannot see the peace and joy that awaits us if we just keep pressing forward.
Even in the darkest nights the sun does not cease to radiate it’s light. It continues to shine as bright as ever while the other side of our world is in darkness, or shadow. The same is true with our lives, when we realize that it’s the absence of light that causes the darkness, we do not need to worry or despair. We can change our course when we understand that at this moment, we are not in the right place to receive light.
When we receive God’s light we can find a deeper understanding that will allow us to push through the darkness and allow Christ to be the light and the inspiration we seek. Do not despair when darkness falls upon your days or even months and years, because God hears your cries and your fears. We just need to choose to change our hearts, and our unbelief...turn your heart to Him. He is waiting for you to become spiritually ready for the blessings you desire.
Heavenly or spiritual light shines upon all of God’s creations. It is the adversary that works hard to create shadows and darkness. He tries to coerce us to see and fear shadows and thereby move into his dark abyss. Be aware of his tactics and make the choices that will allow you to mindfully let the light in. Light allows us to see things as they really are.
Jesus Christ Is The Light Of The World
My life experiences confirm to me that Gods light is offered freely to us.
I am blessed to know that there is no darkness that can ever suppress, extinguish, overpower or defeat God’s light, He is truly there for us, no matter the circumstance ... He lights up our world!
As we reject temptation and choose to be clean and pure, or forgive anyone who has brought shadows into our heart, we can bring light into the world. Each time we mindfully turn our hearts to God in humble prayer, we experience His light. Our search for answers in the scriptures will enhance our light. Doing His will and following the inspiration we receive will help us reach out to those in need and our light will brighten and will give them the light they are searching for.
Show Your Worth By What You Seek and What You Share
“God’s love, light, and truth will cause dormant things to spring to life, and you will be reborn into a newness of life in Jesus Christ.” Elder Dieter F. Uchtdorf, October 2017 General Conf.
It’s so humbling to know that when we receive God’s light we have a responsibility to share His beautiful, heavenly light with the world and bring glory to Him. You too can testify of the truth you know in your heart and share your light with someone who is seeking truth, hope and healing.
